Summer learning fun

6/6/2017

Here are five fun and easy ways to practice skills over the summer. Enjoy the break!

1. Create a calendar and have your child fill in the days of the week and the events that are happening.

2. Teach kids to cook using step-by-step directions.

3. Create musical instruments from materials found around the house. Need help? Enchanted Learning provides instructions for such Musical Instruments as a rattle, box guitar, maraca, and rain stick.

4. Learn about national parks from the comfort of your own home, and encourage your child to complete online activities and become a
Web Ranger. Materials are grouped by age and include cool awards and a membership card.

5. Have your child keep a journal about fun summer events they participated in.

Completing math facts in a timed manner can be rather intimidating. Completing timed tests is a great way to practice recalling skills quickly. Fact Monster is a wonderful website where you can practice these facts.

This APP is a great way for your children to practice the skills that they have been learning in their classrooms. It’s an easy way for them to practice sight words, phonics patterns, spelling words, and even math facts! It is very similar to the popular game “Heads Up” by Ellen Degeneres.

This game works just like Heads Up.
Kids are given a custom deck and player 1 places it on their forehead.
Player two gives clues to help player 1 guess the word.
If player 1 guesses correctly they tilt their head down for a point.
They can pass by tilting their head up.

Here is how to create your own cards:
Press quick play
Then press, “Create your own Deck”. You will input all the words that you want your kids to guess that pertain to that topic.
